Amazon’s Smart Assistant Alexa Threw A House Party While The Owners Were Away And The Police Stepped In

This is it, robots are officially taking over our lives. An Amazon Echo in Germany started its own party while the owners were away, and boy did the unthinkable happen. Alexa started playing loud music at 1am in the night, which woke the neighbors up. They obviously called the police, but the funny thing was that when the police knocked on the door no one answered.

Upon breaking the door down the police found an empty house with Alexa partying on its own. When did the owners come to know? When they returned home to find their keys not working because the police had to change the locks.

The Amazon Echo had started playing really loud music of its own accord, which led the neighbors screaming at an empty apartment only for the police to solve the incident for them. The device was later unplugged and a new lock was put on the door.

Amazon however claims that the device did not malfunction and was remotely activated. The locksmith ended up costing a lot to the owners and he jokingly asked his Alexa whether it would at least cover the costs. It responded: “I have not found an answer to the question.”

He later wrote on Facebook: “While I was relaxed and enjoying a beer, Alexa managed on her own, without command and without me using my mobile phone, to switch on at full volume and have her own party in my apartment. She decided to have it at a very inconvenient time, between 1.50am and 3am. My neighbors called the police.”
